Reiki
Reiki therapy channels universal life force energy, through the giver, to promote the recipient’s self-healing abilities. It is believed that the practitioner does not cause the healing to occur, nor are they the source of the healing energy; but they are a channel for that energy. In being and doing so, they are healed simultaneously. The word “Reiki” is formed of two Japanese words: “rei,” meaning “higher power”, and “ki,” meaning “life force energy”.
“Ki”, also written as “Qi” and “Chi”, is the life force energy that animates all living things. Without it, there is no life. Combined, “rei” and “ki” mean “spiritually guided life force energy”.
Reiki is taught and passed on to students through study and attunements; initiation ceremonies that open the energy channels, facilitating the flow of healing life force energy. Reiki is a spiritual practice. It is not a religion, nor is it associated with religious practices. It can be used therapeutically as a stand alone method and can also be used effectively, in conjunction with other complimentary and allopathic treatments.
